We have a great opportunity for an experienced Highway Management Engineer to join our dedicated team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the roads, footpaths, and bridleways in Solihull.

Currently helping to make big things happen – like the High-Speed 2 Rail network, M42 Junction 5a, our housing growth programme as set out in the draft Local Plan. With plans to bring forward exciting commercial and residential developments at Birmingham Airport, the N.E.C., and Arden Cross development, there are plenty of interesting projects to be involved with.
The Highway Management team forms part of the wider Highway Management Group and this post will report to the Strategic Lead officer. The wider group also delivers Sustainable Travel, Parking and Enforcement Services, Urban Traffic Control, and our Highway Permitting functions, all of which contribute to managing one of the best performing highway networks in the country.

To meet the challenge and be successful in the role you will have:
* Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) or above in an Engineering or relevant subject or able to demonstrate substantial relevant experience and training in civil engineering, highway management, or similar.
* Detailed knowledge and experience of traffic management and statutory requirements.
* Relevant and proven experience of managing engineering, highway, or construction related projects.
* Experience of supervising site teams.
* Experience of partnership working, able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
