Main Responsibilities
The Personal Assistant to the Controller, BBC Radio 3 & BBC Proms is a pivotal role within the classical music division of BBC Music. The position sits within the Radio 3 network team, which is responsible for commissioning a raft of programmes, documentaries, podcasts and more. The successful candidate will also work closely with the BBC Proms team, responsible for the world’s biggest classical music festival – held every summer at the Royal Albert Hall and in venues across the UK.
Day-to-day, you will work in partnership with the Controller, BBC Radio 3 & BBC Proms, running his diary and acting as the first point of contact for anyone with whom he liaises. In addition to diary management, you will be responsible for booking travel and accommodation, organising meetings and away days, and a variety of other administrative tasks. What’s more, as an integral part of the division, your views on Radio 3 and the BBC will always be warmly welcomed; this is a friendly and dynamic team, where there’s always lots going on and everyone’s perspective is valued.
Are you the right candidate?
* Experience in running a busy diary, and managing the expectations of various stakeholders – both internal and external
* Calm under pressure, with a clear ability to prioritise multiple tasks
* An effective ‘gatekeeper’, adept at protecting the time of a senior member of staff when required
* Knowledge of classical music and the wider arts is desirable but by no means essential
