DUTIES:
1. Reporting to the Supervisor of Traffic Signals, this position will be responsible for maintaining, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing the city-wide signalized traffic control system, overhead and underground cable, and communication cabinets.
2. Provide regular service and maintenance of the electrical components of the city's traffic control system.
3. Install CCTV cameras, video detection cameras, and other traffic devices including pedestrian detectors.
4. Assist with Traffic/streetlight Infrastructure locator in locating live electrical streetlight feeds and underground circuits.
5. Work with live electrical circuits safely in compliance with provincial legislation and codes.
6. Install intersection hardware such as electrical cable, poles, mast arms, signal heads, and underground and overhead multi-conductor cabling systems.
7. Operate various sized trucks (DZ License required), boom lifting equipment, concrete saws, generators, compressors, jackhammers, pumps, hand and power tools, forklifts, and soldering apparatus.
8. Access equipment requirements and coordinate with Windsor Police Department, Windsor Fire Department, Windsor Utilities Commission, etc. for temporary intersection installations and in emergency situations.
9. Maintain daily entries of all activities in a log book which may be required as evidence in a court trial.
10. Install, service, and maintain Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS), components such as permanent and Portable Various Message Systems (PVMS) and permanent and portable detector stations including speed trap stations.
11. Perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation's Health and Safety Program.
12. Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus one (1) year of post-secondary training from a Community College or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
2. Must have over five (5) years of work experience in a computerized traffic signal control or similar environment.
3. Must have a current Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as an Electrician 442A or 309A, including an apprenticeship, under the Tradesperson's Qualifications Act.
4. Must hold and maintain a current, valid and lawful Class 'D' Driver's License with a 'Z' endorsement OR hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver's Licence and attain a current, valid and lawful Class 'D' Driver's License with a 'Z' endorsement within the probationary/confirmation period.
5. Must have proven oral and written communication skills.
6. A Physical Demands analysis will be completed with the incumbent after approximately six months of occupying the position.
