A lady with MS in Pwllt Trap requires a Personal Assistant for up to 14.5 hour per week to support her with personal care, showering, dressing and food preparation. Her condition can vary day to day basis.
Assisting her with physiotherapy exercises, pushing wheelchair and taking her to appointments plus shopping.
She works Monday to Thursday together with an occasional Friday. Her working hours are 08:30 to 18:15. She will therefore require assistance periodically during the day from 7.30 am to 23:00 pm each day. This role may be appropriate for a job share due to range of hours involved.
She has to follow strict medical rules regarding meal times and has to cease eating by 9 morning and night and cannot resume eating until after 12 noon each day.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Supporting the employer with encouragement in maintaining independence
Supporting the employer to continue independent living skills
To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with them and providing them with social interaction
Supporting the employer to attend appointments through provision of transport and pushing wheelchair
Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

5. Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.

8. Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
9. A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required. This is determined by the needs of the employer.
10. You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
11. Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
12. Physiotherapy experience is desired due to complexity of movements.
