We are currently in search of Modelling and Simulation Engineer. Your role will consist of researching, developing and maintaining the dynamic models of our eVTOL aircraft prototype in a simulation environment. You will be part of a small agile team of passionate individuals and report directly to our Software & Simulation Lead. Key Responsibilities: Contribute and steer the development of our aircraft dynamic models using state of the art modelling tools and techniques. Lead relevant system identification activities and parameter estimation methodology for aircraft and key subsystems. Own development and improvement of model validation and verification procedures. Identify model limitations and uncertainties. Work closely with Flight Physics, Powertrain, Structures and Testing teams to build representative models and define key tests and manoeuvres for data gathering and validation. Support development of our Aircraft Simulator. Improve modelling standards and development practices in the team. Qualifications: M.Sc/PhD in Aeronautical Engineering or similar degree. 5 years of professional experience in flight dynamics modelling and system identification. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink. Experience with version control systems. Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail. Self starter and proactive mindset. What will set you apart: Experience modelling and identifying eVTOL aerodynamics during VTOL to Fixed Wing transition, experience with wind tunnel test programs and data processing. Experience modelling electric powertrain systems including inverter, battery packs with cell chemistry and electric motors. Experience with flight control design and testing including PIDs & optimal control. Technical knowledge of sensor signal processing and experience with sensor fusion/state estimation including EKFs. Software development experience with C/C++, Python. Good understanding and knowledge of safety critical aerospace systems including avionics and ground control systems. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as model based development DO-331 standards and DO-178C for software development in aerospace systems, ADS-33 handling qualities. Experience with requirements capturing, derivation and traceability. Experience with agile methodologies.
