Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
Salary: up to £33,880
Recruiting for an FM Client within the Care & Custody (C&C) division. They are driven by a bold vision: to establish HMP Millsike as a place of restoration and rehabilitation, where prisoners can unlock their full potential and make meaningful, positive changes in their lives.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities:
1. Implement planned and reactive maintenance while monitoring all grounds support activities and equipment.
2. Execute grounds maintenance tasks and manage grounds operatives.
3. Plan and implement landscaping projects.
4. Lead and enforce workplace safety practices, ensuring proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Ensure compliance with the Company Safety Policy and relevant regulations, including adherence to Permit to Work Systems.
6. Act as a trainer and mentor to prisoner working groups while liaising with engineers and subcontractors.
7. Address client concerns proactively.
8. Support best practices and accurately complete documentation on time.
9. Troubleshoot site issues and investigate infrastructure problems, recommending remedial actions.
10. Coordinate with existing systems and maintain O&M manuals.
11. Be available for scheduled and unplanned weekend work.
Person Specification:
1. NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture (Landscaping) or a Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture.
2. COSHH Certificate is essential.
3. Experience with gritting and spreading practices.
4. Certifications such as IOSH or a PA1 and PA6 spraying license.
5. Driving license is essential.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
High moral standards and integrity are crucial, along with the ability to complete all planned preventive maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance on time. Compliance with company and statutory regulations regarding safe systems of work, health and safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and local fire regulations is required. Additionally, the candidate should consistently meet compliance and EHS standards while supporting the FM Team in achieving site objectives.
