Join our team where you will be working under the direction of the Permanent Way Supervisor based at New Bridge Depot, Pickering. Working in a team repairing and maintaining the small plant, the on-track plant, and other equipment and machinery used by the Permanent Way Department.
A wide range of tasks are required of the post holder, including the following:
1. Install pipework, valves, pumps, and motors
2. Carry out planned maintenance checks
3. Replace worn parts, reset instrument controls, and clean machinery
4. Respond to emergency breakdowns, overhaul, repair, and maintain all the allocated plant and equipment normally based at New Bridge Depot to ensure they are fit and safe to use.
5. Undertake fault finding on items of engineering equipment and where required provide a report with recommendations for overhaul or replacement.
6. Conduct inspections of all plant allocated to New Bridge, including when located elsewhere, and provide records.
7. Carry out inspections and checks on all equipment.
8. Driving/Ticket of Forklifts or willing to train.
The position is a permanent contract based on 36.5 hours per week. A flexible approach to working hours is required as some weekend work will be necessary. You will also need a full driving licence as although based in Pickering, you may also be required to work at other locations on our railway, and have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
