Overview
We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavators to perform various tasks related to construction and earthmoving. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical operations and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
Duties
1. Operate excavators to dig, move, and grade earth materials as required by project specifications.
2. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
3. Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
4. Maintain the excavator by performing routine inspections and minor repairs as needed.
5. Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery on-site.
6. Communicate effectively with ground crew members to ensure safe operations during excavation activities.
Requirements
1. Proven experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery is essential.
2. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
3. A valid commercial driving licence is preferred but not mandatory.
4. Ability to read and interpret site plans and specifications accurately.
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
6. A commitment to safety practices and procedures on construction sites.
This role is based on a sewage treatment plant, so a National Water Hygiene qualification (EUSR) would be advantageous.
