Main duties of the job
1. To deliver activities and intervention to promote and optimise health and wellbeing of school aged children and young people attending state-maintained schools or home educated within the Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.
2. To lead on development and review of interventions and activities undertaken by the School Health Team, ensuring that they align with the commissioned service offer, policy and guidance (local and national) and are underpinned by evidence.
3. To lead on, support and coordinate programmes of learning and development of pre and post registration nursing students, new starters, and team members, promoting an effective learning environment and fostering an openness to learn.
4. To fulfil the role of Practice Assessor to SCPHN students (School Nursing) and other learning pathways including apprenticeships.
A full UK driving license with access to a vehicle or access to a bicycle with storage facilities that could transport very heavy equipment, is essential (car/ bike loan scheme available) and a full DBS check will be required.

Service Delivery
Maintaining knowledge and demonstrate excellent practice insafeguarding children and adults, acting as a role model and resource tostudents and staff.
Alert senior staff and the Named Nurse for Child Protection andother relevant staff when exceptional risks are identified.
Being accountable for actions in relation to own practice and thatdelegated to others, acting at all times within the NMC code of professionalconduct and Your Healthcare policy and procedures.

Participating in and developing health promoting activities forchildren young people and their families in a variety of community settings. Activities include but are notlimited to Relationship, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) group work, schoolstaff training parent advice clinic pupil drop-ins health assessments andone to one intervention.
To use appropriate strategies to ensure effectivecommunication with service users and their carers colleagues and partneragencies. A variety of methods of communication will be used including use oftechnology and remote communication tools. These will be selected in a form andmanner that is consistent with the persons age level of understanding,culture background, and preferred manner of communication.
