The clinical caseload will include providing a high quality, evidence-based dietetic service to a range of adult wards including general medicine and surgery where you will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary teams. In addition, you will manage an outpatient caseload, which includes weekly diabetic and general clinics. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in areas such as ICU, gastroenterology, surgery and neurorehab. The post holder will also be involved in staff and patient education programmes. The post holders will be involved in clinical audits, department wide projects and service improvements.
The department is committed to continuing professional development, with one of the Trust's key priorities being to develop a quality workforce through an effective appraisal system. There is a well-established borough-wide Dietetic network which offers peer support and there are good opportunities and guidance for ongoing personal development. The post holder will be supported by a Senior Dietitian involving regular clinical supervision.

1. To contribute to the delivery of Nutrition and Dietetic Services to the Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust (including cover to the Mount Vernon Site and clinic).
2. To assess and treat a defined caseload of patients and maintain accurate records.

We are looking for a confident and motivated Dietitian to join our friendly Dietetic and Speech Therapy Team at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Our friendly team consists of 12 Dietitians, 8 Speech and Language Therapists, 3 administrators, a Dietetic and Speech Therapy Assistant, Nutrition nurse and Service Manager.
Job responsibilities
1. To undertake nutritional assessment and calculate nutritional requirements of referred in-patients at Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust, taking into account medical, social and cultural factors.
2. To provide nutrition and dietary advice suitable for the patients' medical, social and cultural factors which is evidence-based.
3. To negotiate change with patients to enable them to achieve dietary targets set.
4. To monitor and review nutritional care plans against outcome measures and adjust care plan to facilitate achievement of goals.
Person Specification
* Degree or equivalent or post graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics
* Evidence of current HCPC registration (State Registered Dietitian)
* Relevant dietetic experience of managing an inpatient and outpatient caseload either on clinical placement or post graduate dietetic experience.
* Experience of working with patients who require artificial nutrition.
* Experience of working as part of an MDT in the acute and/or community setting
* Recent experience in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nutrition education programs for patients or staff
* Experience of working in multicultural environments and with different ethnic groups
* Effective team working
* Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management particularly type 2 diabetes, nutrition support, weight management, CVD and IBS
* Knowledge of medications commonly used in adult inpatients and their common side effects
* Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment
* Competence in calculating nutritional requirements.
* Basic competence in assessment for enteral feeding, enteral feeding products, equipment, and regimens.
* Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance.
* Member of BDA Specialist Interest Group
* Experience of training student dietitians
