Architect Job in Central London
Our client is looking for an Architect to join their team in central London. If you're passionate about high-quality architectural design, particularly focused on RIBA Stage 3, and enjoy working within a collaborative Urban Design team, this role could be ideal for you. The practice's work is frequently showcased in industry and lifestyle magazines, reflecting their expertise across a variety of sectors. Their portfolio includes everything from high-end private residences to large-scale masterplanning projects of over 5,000 units, as well as commercial and historic buildings.
Due to several major new projects, they are looking to add an Architect to their team, primarily focusing on masterplanning work. They are also open to considering Architectural Designers, Architectural Technicians, or experienced Part II Architectural Assistants with relevant experience.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Assist with master planning, housing, and commercial design services as part of a multi-disciplinary urban design and commercial architecture team.
2. Guide projects from strategic development to detailed design, focusing on the architectural elements of larger urban schemes.
3. Produce coordinated designs for RIBA Stage 3, ensuring smooth transitions from planning to detailed design and construction.
4. Work on diverse public buildings, including schools, nurseries, commercial and retail units, community facilities, and residential and specialist housing.
5. Collaborate with the wider Urbanism team, manage small teams, and work independently.
6. Contribute to placemaking by working on projects that prioritize long-term investment in sustainable urban environments.
Required Skills & Experience
1. Ability to design by hand and using computer-aided design tools.
2. Experience with ArchiCAD is advantageous but not essential, as training is provided.
3. Strong interest or experience in urban-scale projects up to RIBA Stage 3.
4. Good drawing and presentation skills.
5. Strong design ability with attention to detail.
6. Awareness of technical standards, regulatory frameworks, and health and safety requirements.
7. Well-organized with good time management skills; able to manage a varied portfolio of work and meet deadlines.
8. Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
9. Strong communication skills.
