Fire Risk Assessor / Fire Safety Consultant
Position: Fire Risk Assessor and Fire Safety Consultant
Employment Type: Permanent / Part-time. Alternatively, we would welcome someone on a contractor basis that is self-employed.
Location: The office is based in Leeds. However, applicants will be carrying out fire risk assessments and fire safety inspections around the UK, predominantly in the North and Midlands of England such as Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Nottingham, and Birmingham.
Salary: £40,000-£50,000 per annum for a permanent role. This salary may rise depending upon qualifications and experience.
Overview: FirePrevent Ltd is a fire engineering consultancy that offers services from basic fire risk assessments through to bespoke fire engineering design solutions and fire risk appraisals of external wall systems. FirePrevent Ltd is seeking a motivated and observant individual to join our growing fire safety/fire engineering team. The person will play a crucial role in ensuring fire safety compliance under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 by completing fire risk assessments and fire safety inspections in various building types.
The position is ideally suited to individuals that already have a solid foundation in fire safety and have previously completed Type 1 and Type 3 fire risk assessments on mid to high-rise residential buildings, looking to develop their expertise and contribute to the growth of the company going forward.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out fire risk assessment inspections and produce quality fire risk assessment reports;
* Carry out fire safety site inspections and produce detailed technical fire safety reports;
* Audit fire risk assessments;
* Represent the company at meetings with clients, contractors, and the fire service;
* Provide written and verbal fire safety advice to clients.
Requirements/Qualifications:
* Experience conducting residential fire risk assessments with minimal supervision, including Type 1 and Type 3 fire risk assessments on mid and high-rise residential buildings;
* A good knowledge and understanding of UK fire safety legislation such as Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and the Government Fire Safety Guides;
* Level 3 certification from a nationally recognised training course such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM);
* Membership of the IFE or IFSM (desirable but not essential);
* Registration on either the IFE or IFSM risk assessors register (desirable but not essential);
* A good knowledge of building construction;
* A good knowledge of fire compartmentation and fire stopping;
* A full driving licence and the flexibility to travel in England, including possible overnight stays in some instances;
* A confident independent approach to communicating with clients and managing workloads;
* Good report writing skills;
* Ambition to add to qualifications as they develop.
