The Role
Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your project and programme management skills, and be involved in delivering transformation with customers at the heart? Bolton Council is going through an exciting and unprecedented period of change over the next few years, and we’re looking a talented individual to help us achieve our ambitions.
The Career Grade Change Manager apprenticeship offers a rare opportunity to play a key role in driving and delivering strategic change activity across the council. A key aspect of the apprenticeship involves the post holder working with individual services to apply our transformation principles and support them to modernise, with our customers at the centre of our engagement processes. This offers an excellent opportunity to someone who is looking to solidify their project management experience and knowledge with a formal qualification and progress their career by giving them the tools to deliver change effectively.
The post is a developmental role and will involve undertaking a Level 6 Service Designer qualification, supporting the post holder to progress through the career grade. There will be lots of opportunities to influence and help shape what we do and how we do it, in addition to the apprenticeship, we can offer plenty of formal and on-the-job development.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience of delivering change projects or programmes, or good knowledge of change approaches and experience of shaping organisational change, or both. You need to be able to manage multiple, fast-paced and complex pieces of work simultaneously, alongside completing an apprenticeship that includes coursework and participation in learning modules, primarily online. You’ll have a focus on demonstrating improved outcomes, supported by a strong evidence base. An ability to think strategically and join up activities across services and directorates is essential. You need to be comfortable working with colleagues and partners at all levels, as well as elected members, and you must have strong leadership and influencing skills.
Applicants must be able to commit to an 18-24 month apprenticeship, and completion of this apprenticeship is a requirement of progression through the career grade. You thereforemust notalready hold a related qualification (or similar) at degree level (Level 6) or above. The successful candidate will have 20% of their time allocated to study and complete course-related work. Please see the person specification for minimum qualification requirements to access this apprenticeship.
