We are seeking an Optical Characterisation Engineer to join the Optical Engine Team at Snap Inc.!
What you’ll do:
* Design and build optical measurement instrumentation and test stations for AR device characterization.
* Develop experimental methodologies to assess new components and assemblies.
* Perform calibration and validation of instrumentation.
* Create new analysis and processing techniques to evaluate device performance.
* Conduct root cause analysis of failure mechanisms.
* Contribute to shared codebases for hardware control and analysis.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Understanding of optical experimental methodology and experience in an optical laboratory environment.
* Proficiency in data and statistical analysis (Python, JMP).
* Experience with equipment control and automation.
* Skills in image processing and using standard image processing libraries.
* Proficiency with cloud office software (MS Office, Google Workspace, Atlassian).
* Experience with code-sharing platforms (Git, Bitbucket).
Minimum Qualifications:
* BSc in Physics, Optics, or relevant engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 2+ years in optical engineering or a PhD in physics, optics, or engineering.
* Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping.
* Experience in display testing and image quality evaluation.
* Knowledge of colorimetry and radiometry.
* Experience with AR/VR systems.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes.
