Mechanical Facilities Engineer (No On-Call)

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Facilities Services Engineer to join an on-site team in Haymarket, Edinburgh. As part of the team, you will help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our commercial customer, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring statutory compliance, and contributing to a positive working environment – without the requirement for on-call duty.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and repair duties on HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
Work within the facilities team, assisting others when required.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure safe working practices.
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks promptly and effectively.
Complete reports using handheld tablets and maintain site logbooks.
Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms.
Assist with building fabric maintenance and repairs when needed.
Source materials and parts for work orders, ensuring accurate stock control.
Attend meetings, health & safety briefings, and toolbox talks.
Provide support to the Technical Supervisor, covering in their absence when necessary.
Participate in regular housekeeping and stock control of site storage areas.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including LOLER, PUWER, PAT, CDM Regs, and more.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge:
Essential:
Full UK driving licence.
Completed Apprenticeship and trade qualifications in a technical field (Mechanical bias preferred).
At least 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
Experience with large mechanical and electrical systems in a modern office environment, including:
HVAC systems.
FGas and A/C refrigerant systems.
LTHW & Chilled Water Systems.
Low Voltage Distribution and BMS.
Legionella control (L8) and building statutory requirements.
Experience with planned maintenance and problem-solving in an FM environment.
Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
Desirable:
Formal Health & Safety training and qualifications.
