The salary for this permanent Speech & Language Therapist job is £28,407 - £34,581 per annum.

Main Duties:
* Implement neurobehavioural strategies for brain injury recovery, staying informed of the latest research and best practices.
* Oversee and prioritise a caseload of individuals with intricate mental and physical health conditions or challenging behaviours.
* Employ evidence-based methods and person-centred principles to assess, plan, and evaluate interventions effectively.
* Conduct thorough assessments considering the environment, context, and future objectives to establish tailored rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication and dysphagia therapy programmes, and necessary referrals.
* Navigate communication challenges to engage individuals in their assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning processes, ensuring informed consent is obtained.
* Secure consent from individuals or their representatives to share relevant information with family, carers, and other involved parties, while upholding confidentiality.
* Provide insights into individuals' communication capabilities and support needs.
* Conduct swallowing assessments, offering recommendations, care plans, referrals, and staff training for effective dysphagia management and rehabilitation.
* Adhere to risk management and safeguarding protocols, actively seeking improvements and guiding others in enhancing safety practices.
* Perform risk assessments and propose solutions to improve health and safety within the work environment as needed.
* Exercise a high level of responsibility in all aspects of the role.
* Maintain and manage equipment and supplies, alerting the service manager to any needs for replacement.
Requirements of the Speech & Language Therapist:
* Hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Be registered with the HCPC
* Possess Dysphagia Competency certification
* Have substantial experience in hospital or residential environments
* Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of speech and language therapy approaches for acquired brain injury, such as social and cognitive communication and training for communication partners
* Be skilled in using speech and language therapy outcome measures
* Have at least 4 years of post-qualification experience, including handling complex cases
* Accumulate a minimum of 2 years of experience working with adults with neurological conditions, or 4+ years of relevant experience in another clinical setting
