We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Sales Manager to join our UK team to help develop and grow our Freight Market. Previous experience in Logistics or Shipping and Maritime is essential. A strong ability to nurture relationships and maintain long-term connections with key customers, understanding different needs and challenges is required, as this role will predominantly focus on obtaining new business. Industry knowledge and experience in Maritime and logistics is essential to carry out the responsibilities of this role. Ability to travel and a UK driving licence will also be essential.
Main Purpose of the Role:
1. To generate new business and associated sales growth by promoting and selling products/services to the Direct and Business to Business (B2B) Freight markets.
2. Maintain and grow existing accounts to maximise volume/revenue/yield as per P&O Ferries freight strategy.
3. Manage and negotiate with leading accounts within the designated area to achieve the best outcome for P&O across all routes.
4. Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule.
5. To develop and share knowledge of market changes and competitor activity with the team.
6. Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services (Winplans).
7. Actively grow revenue through new business generation, selling to the market together with P&O Ferries route network.
8. To work as one team and share best practice to drive performance.
9. Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs.
10. Establish, develop and maintain and grow positive business and customer relationships and build loyalty to the P&O brand.
11. Reach out to customer leads through cold calling.
12. Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends and share where applicable.
13. Continuously improve through constructive feedback.
14. Ensure all customer activity is captured using the relevant systems.
15. Actively review working processes and make suggestions for any improvements to the Line Manager.
