We are currently recruiting for a Head of Refrigeration Projects to oversee the successful delivery of cooling and industrial refrigeration projects across the UK (to be based in the North West).
Your role will involve the planning, coordinating, and implementing projects to deliver high-quality cooling solutions to multiple industrial end users. This position requires strong project management skills, technical knowledge in cooling technologies, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with your own and internal teams including external stakeholders. The role is a permanent position with a competitive salary & package structure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with clients to understand their cooling requirements and develop project plans that align with their needs and expectations.
2. Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring clarity and agreement from all stakeholders.
3. Coordinate project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure smooth execution of projects.
4. Monitor project progress, track milestones, and take necessary actions to mitigate risks and address issues.
5. Lead and manage project teams, including internal resources and external contractors, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
6. Assign tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines to team members and ensure accountability for project deliverables.
7. Foster a collaborative and positive team culture, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
8. Conduct regular team meetings to review project status, address challenges, and provide guidance and support.
9. Develop detailed project budgets, estimating costs for labour, materials, and equipment, and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
10. Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
11. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
12. P&L responsibility for the projects sub-division.
13. Implement quality control processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
14. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution, maintaining regular communication and addressing any concerns or issues.
15. Provide regular project updates to clients, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
2. Proven experience as a Project Manager in the cooling technologies industry, preferably within commercial and industrial projects.
3. Level 3 qualification in mechanical or refrigeration engineering.
4. Ideally CO2 and/or Ammonia System application experience.
5. Strong knowledge of cooling systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and associated equipment.
6. Demonstrated project management skills, including project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and budget control.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
8. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
9. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
10. Familiarity with health and safety regulations applicable to cooling projects.
11. H&S Qualification (IOSH or Similar).
12. Ideally APMP / Prince 2 or equivalent to a reasonable standard.
13. Knowledge and understanding of the complexities and challenges of installing medium to large projects in RAC/HVAC environments spanning the breadth of applications.
14. Experience of dealing with Refrigeration technical queries from field-based engineers by engaging the relevant stakeholders.
15. A working understanding of EN378, PSSR, PESR & Other applicable codes and how to apply these codes during an installation.
