Were looking for a dynamic, motivated Occupational Therapy Team Lead at QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre. Youll play a key role in transforming the lives of individuals recovering from brain injuries, spinal injuries, and neurological conditions. Throughout the year, youll also support general inpatient rehab for our local NHS Trusts and work with outpatients.
We need a forward-thinking leader passionate about neurorehabilitation. Youll lead our Occupational Therapy team, driving clinical excellence and delivering top-quality care within a strong multi-disciplinary team (MDT). Your mission: embed evidence-based practice, foster innovation, and maximize client rehabilitation with a focus on independence and seamless discharge planning.
Collaboration is key. Youll work closely with admissions, discharge coordinators, and community therapy teams. Excellent communication skills and experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff are essential.

Main duties of the job
1. Lead the OT team at QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre, ensuring an inclusive and professional environment.
2. Oversee daily OT operations, ensuring timely treatment and discharge planning for clients.
3. Independently assess and treat clients with neurological injuries, developing rehabilitation and discharge plans.
4. Support team quality, manage your own caseload, and monitor client progress for optimal recovery.
5. Provide OT interventions, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, and complete necessary documentation.
6. Prepare reports, conduct home visits, and ensure team safety in lone working scenarios.
7. Collaborate on service development and manage junior staff, participating in CPD and incident investigations.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To provide comprehensive and complex Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment plans which are evidence-based against validated outcome measures and aligned to the aspirations of the client in maximising functional independence.
To provide clinical leadership, supervision and performance review of staff in accordance with HR policies and guidance for the provision of evidence-based effective Occupational Therapy for all clients.
To facilitate and deliver plans on the future placement and support needs of each client as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Support the Head of Therapies in ensuring that all Occupational Therapy is delivered effectively and efficiently for all clients as part of the inter-disciplinary rehabilitation team.
Undertake all aspects of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention as required including home visits and functional rehabilitation at home when appropriate.
Ensure self and other Occupational Therapists meet the HCPC Standards of Proficiency for Occupational Therapists and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
Ensure self and other Occupational Therapy department staff meet the standards and guidance provided by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy including that for record keeping.
Promote a 24-hour approach to rehabilitation in conjunction with other therapists, working across all disciplines (therapy and care staff) for the benefit of all clients
Meet deadlines as required for the needs of the clients and the provision of an efficient service for funding agencies including; time-sensitive intervention, report writing, attending meetings, data provision.
Undertake role as Key worker for selected clients
Supervise and take responsibility for clients whilst out in the community.
Provide training sessions for staff in the Neuro Rehabilitation Service as required within scope of practice
Take responsibility for the facilities and equipment related to the provision of Occupational Therapy including the treatment rooms, store areas and training kitchen - general maintenance, decor and all equipment kept and used in these locations, maintaining up to date inventories of all stock and equipment.
Ensuring repairs are carried out and Health & Safety standards are adhered to.
Comply with all Human Resources policies and ensure supervisees comply with existing and up-dated working practices and policies.
To seek and resolve difficulties and issues arising for individual clients in the acquisition and development of skills, abilities and attitudes to achieve.

17. Health and Care Professional Council registration
18. Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy
19. Evidence of relevant CPD
20. Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists or equivalent
21. Evidence of appropriate post-graduate training
Experience

22. Recent relevant experience of adults with acquired brain injury
23. Working in a team
24. A minimum of 5 years post graduate with at least 2 years in neuroscience.
25. Organising Occupational Therapy input into a relevant, specific clinical unit and contributing to the general running of an Occupational Therapy department.
26. Supervision of Occupational Therapists, students and assistants
27. Evidence of teaching / sharing knowledge with colleagues
28. Understanding of professional development issues
