Software Development Manager, AWS QuickSight
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Amazon QuickSight is looking to hire a talented software development manager to build world-class data analytics experiences. Amazon QuickSight powers data-driven organizations with unified business intelligence (BI) at hyperscale. With QuickSight, all users can meet varying analytic needs from the same source of truth through modern interactive dashboards, paginated reports, natural language queries, and embedded analytics. We recently launched Amazon Q in QuickSight, which enhances business productivity using Generative BI capabilities to accelerate decision-making.
We are looking for seasoned technical leadership and people management in the form of a Software Development Manager. We would like a person with more than a decade of production software development experience who can manage a team of developers, make multi-year architectural decisions, and lead R&D efforts to success.

Software Development Managers at Amazon are expected to quickly understand organizational and product goals and map them to managed project deliverables. They must be able to divide tasks across a team and manage team execution. They are fully responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team and held to a high standard on the quality of product produced and the quality of ongoing support and maintenance provided to our customers. They must build effective teams and organizational structure, and hire and develop the best talent to execute on their vision.
Minimum Requirements
1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience
2. 7+ years of engineering experience
3. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
4. Experience partnering with product or program management teams
5. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
6. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
