Job Description:
Our client, a prominent food manufacturer based in Norwich, is seeking an experienced and proactive Warehouse and Logistics Manager to oversee all aspects of warehouse operations and logistics. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient flow of goods, from raw materials to finished products, through the supply chain and maintaining a high standard of service to meet customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatching.
2. Ensure effective management of stock levels, overseeing stock control processes to maintain accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
3. Develop and implement efficient logistics strategies to optimize the transportation and distribution of goods, both inbound and outbound.
4. Coordinate with production, procurement, and sales teams to align warehouse and logistics activities with company objectives.
5. Manage and train warehouse staff, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and food hygiene standards.
6. Oversee warehouse layout and ensure space is utilized effectively to meet the company's growing needs.
7. Establish KPIs and monitor the performance of warehouse and logistics functions, driving continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service levels.
8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including health and safety, and food safety legislation.
9. Build and maintain strong relationships with external logistics providers to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
10. Prepare and present reports on warehouse and logistics performance to senior management.
Key Requirements:
1. Proven experience in a Warehouse and Logistics Manager role, preferably within the food manufacturing sector.
2. Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
3. Comprehensive understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics software.
4. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
5. Knowledge of food safety, health, and safety regulations.
6. Ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
7. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
8. Experience with budget management and cost optimization within logistics operations.
