Asset Planning Sponsor (Clean Water Distribution)
Salary & Benefits: £41,438 - £51,799 per annum dependant on experience plus attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), annual bonus, 25 days annual leave plus additional days in lieu of working bank holidays and a wellness day, retail savings scheme and a flexible Health Cash Plan scheme (cash back towards the cost of your routine healthcare including glasses/contact lenses, dental treatment and physiotherapy.
Location: Base location TBC this will be based on your home location. Hybrid working to meet business needs but you will be required to attend sites/office on a regular basis.
Work type: This is a permanent position, working an average of 37 hours per week.

The Water Service Delivery function is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The Sponsor role will practice Asset Management Principals working closely with Operations and other Stakeholders to understand business risks on Water Distribution assets. Sponsors support the development of mitigations to be implemented that will drive success towards Yorkshire Water’s Performance Commitments. You will be accountable for the realisation of desired outcomes and benefits from any investment while supporting the governance between the organisation’s senior managers and the management of each project.
Where you fit in:
As our Asset Planning Sponsor you will:
1. Working closely with operational colleagues to identify asset risks or opportunities that may require additional intervention to resolve - through proactive liaison meetings to discuss risks, performance and intervention plans.
2. Understand the Business Need in the context of the company’s strategic, operational and regulatory drivers.
3. Identify and lead investigations into asset performance shortfalls or opportunities and identify a notional solution where appropriate.
4. Lead projects through the investigation phase, ensuring that potential solutions to new regulatory obligations or asset performance shortfalls are fully investigated, utilising expert and partner resources as required
5. During concept and investigation phases, drive TOTEX hierarchy opportunities ( maximising no build, process optimisation, improved maintenance) before considering CAPEX.
6. Balancing of OPEX, CAPEX and Carbon along with business needs resilience to achieve an optimum output
7. Commercial discussions and challenges with Contract Partners.
8. Ownership of the Business Case and securing funding for the project through business governance routes.
9. Understanding project risks during the life of the scheme, through Scope change (quality), Cost, Time and managing any residual risk.
10. Encourage innovative thinking and solution options in order to achieve cost and carbon reduction challenges.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
11. Engineering / process knowledge and experience of Clean Water Distribution asset base and its operation
12. Risk Management understanding and experience
13. Understanding of Yorkshire Water Performance Commitments
14. Influencing and negotiating skills
15. Well organised and methodical
16. Ability to understand root cause analysis
17. Understanding of Engineering Specifications
18. Understanding of site process safety – representation in Hazard Study Process
19. Full Driving Licence
