Job Title: Sport Media Manager, Sport Production Library (CPF: Media Manager)
Contract: There are 6 contracts available in this position.
1. Start date from 19th May for 10 months
2. Start date from 5th May for 11 months
3. Start date from 19th May for 6 months
4. Start date from 5th May to 31st Oct (cricket season cover)
5. Start date from 5th May to 26th Sept (cricket season cover)
6. Start date from 30th June to 26th Sept (cricket season cover)

Job Purpose
We have multiple start date fixed term Contracts to join our Sport Production Library in Salford, working to BBC Sport Production. We have a team of over 25 staff, and work across all BBC Sport output, including all Major Events and Platforms including TV, Radio, Digital Short Form. Media that is Curated into our Digital Media Asset Management Systems are used for content creation. The Media Manager Role will be part of a team that curates this content brought in to a Live Production System, and then retained in our Digital Media Production Archive, adding to our 1.5 Million Hours of readily available and searchable Sport Media.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Media Manager role enables access to the collection. This will involve responding to production enquiries, prioritising demands to meet deadlines for broadcast; adding to and maintaining the collection and its metadata and making decisions on deleting digital production media.
Working to support production at a time of transition and change for the BBC.
While working in a small dedicated team, understanding and aligning with the wider Archives strategic objectives wherever possible.
Being open to new ideas and changes that could improve the functioning of this area, including the use of new technology and maximising growing digital platforms and delivery.
Ensuring that retention and deletion policies and standards are adhered to.
Maintaining effective relationships with users of the legacy collection and understanding the focused remit of the role.
Promoting best Media Management of Digital Media, Archiving and Production Library Practice.
Understanding and Knowledge of Sports Rights vis-a-vis Broadcasting.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
The role requires experience of working with a digital archive or in the media, ideally including media content management.
Our successful candidate will have a higher education qualification closely related to the work of the service, or substantial relevant experience.
In addition, you will also need:
* An Excellent and Advanced knowledge of Sport and BBC Sport output as well as awareness of the type of sports content, genres, etc, in this our BBC Sport Production Collection.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Proven ability to manage customer requirements when working independently and/or as part of a customer-focused, small, dedicated team.
* Methodical and accurate approach to work with good attention to detail.
* A good understanding and knowledge of databases, software packages and their application in the management of information services. Media Asset Management (MAM) and Production Asset Management (PAM) knowledge Essential.
* Awareness of technical issues such as media formats held, aspect ratio and sound levels.
* Experience dealing with customer request and research enquiries under pressure and to tight deadlines for Broadcast.
It would be helpful if you also had:
* Flexible approach to a wide range of duties and the ability to prioritise.
* Awareness of Freedom of Information, Data Protection legislation and Sport Rights as it affects broadcasting.
* Experience of providing access to file-based media and interpreting metadata.
* Experience of planning and prioritising.
