About the Role As a Classroom Nursing Assistant, you will provide medical, emotional and educational support to students with health conditions, disabilities, or special educational needs (SEN). You will play a vital role in ensuring these students can participate fully in school life while receiving the necessary care and assistance. Responsibilities of the Classroom Nursing Assistant: Assisting students with medical needs, disabilities and personal care, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day. Providing medication management, first aid and medical interventions as required. Supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and complex medical needs. Working alongside teachers and SENCOs to implement individual healthcare and education plans (EHCPs). Monitoring students' physical and emotional health and responding to any medical concerns promptly. Encouraging students' independence, confidence and active participation in school activities. Providing personal care support, including toileting, feeding and mobility assistance when necessary. Liaising with teachers, parents and healthcare professionals to ensure students receive the best possible care and support. The successful candidate will have: Experience in healthcare, nursing assistance, SEN support, or social care is highly desirable. A calm, patient and compassionate approach to working with children. Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and medical protocols in an educational setting. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with staff, families and medical professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a reassuring and proactive attitude. Qualifications in health and social care, nursing, or first aid are advantageous but not essential. An updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
