Band 8a Professional Lead Speech and Language Therapist

To provide professional leadership to Speech and Language Therapists and management of Trust Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure that a high-quality clinical service is delivered to service users, carers and their families.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for the management of Speech and Language Therapists supporting the delivery of corporate objectives.
* To have responsibility for ensuring and reporting on efficiency, effectiveness and quality standards for the wider team.
* To work with service users, families/carers and staff to provide education, information and support in the delivery of evidence-based services.
* To lead and develop business planning for the Speech and Language Therapy team.
* To be responsible for the allocation and reallocation of workload for the team; adapting to unpredictable changes and demands on the service e.g. sickness cover or winter pressures, to prevent a detrimental effect on service user experience.
* To lead on the recruitment, retention and career development within the team.
* To contribute to Trust-wide risk management and policy development.
* To work with the professional development lead in extending the innovation and delivery of student and apprentice training and liaising with the higher education authorities for all AHP professions.
* To provide a high standard of clinical intervention which will include a comprehensive assessment and treatment to service users and advice to carers and families, who may have complex conditions.
To participate in the management on-call rota as deemed appropriate by the organisation.
