We have a high profile opportunity for a Treasury Controller who will be an influential member of the team and the key accounting specialist within Treasury. This is a varied role in a large organisation with debt obligations of over £16 billion, making us a top 3 corporate debt issuer in the sterling bond market, with annual group interest costs of c. £500 million and a complex derivatives portfolio with a notional value over £12 billion. This makes us one of the most significant corporate users of derivatives in the UK.
Whilst fully embedded in the Group Treasury team, reporting to the Group Treasurer, you will have a close and cooperative relationship with Financial Reporting and Tax colleagues as well as external auditors. You will manage and develop a team to facilitate completion of team deliverables. You will produce management judgement papers, analytical reviews and Board papers.
What you will be doing as Treasury Controller
* Leading a small team to manage the accounting and reporting for treasury transactions, to ensure they are reflected accurately in the interim and annual financial statements including disclosure.
* Keep abreast of IFRS accounting rules and ensure that the Treasury Management system correctly produces the accounting entries for the transactions for our extensive debt and derivatives portfolio including intercompany loans.
* Responsible for budgeting and forecasting interest, debt and cash positions for balance sheet and income statement purposes, explaining variances. Prepare related regulatory accounting reports.
* Half-year and year end reporting, including preparation of IFRS financial statements and notes/disclosures for stand-alone and consolidated financial statements.
* Responsible for Group Treasury Annual Budget and Periodic Forecasts including monthly Treasury reporting pack.
* Liaison with internal and external auditors including preparation of management judgement papers.
* Collaboration with Group Financial Accounting team and Tax team on common goals.
What you should bring to the role?
* A professionally qualified ACCA/ACA, with extensive relevant experience.
* Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with Treasury Management Systems and accounting systems eg. SAP/HFM would be a benefit.
* Displays accuracy and attention to detail.
* Be able to work collaboratively as “one team” with Treasury colleagues and other finance functions.
* Possess strong communication and team management skills, maintaining and building robust relationships with a variety of key internal and external stakeholders.
