Job Description:
How you'll make a difference
The People department has launched an ambitious Commissioning Transformation Programme, and you will be part of the team implementing these changes. Your role is to ensure that residents of South Gloucestershire receive the support and services they need to live independently, in appropriate settings, and at affordable prices.
You will serve as a Commissioning Officer, helping to improve care and support provisions by building strong partnerships with social care, housing, and health service providers commissioned by the Council.
The Specialist Team primarily oversees commissioning for learning difficulties, autism, mental health, mentoring, and other partnerships. This includes supporting the commissioning of our specialist provider framework, quality assurance, and managing contracts and partnerships. Your work may involve quality assurance, contract management, and other team support activities.
What will you be doing?
Daily, you will foster strong partnerships with social care, housing, Public Health, health colleagues, and provider organizations to meet strategic commitments. You will collaborate to support the development of the care provider market in South Gloucestershire, aligning with departmental commissioning priorities.
* You will work with providers commissioned by the Council to support vulnerable adults.
* You will monitor contracts to ensure service delivery and outcome achievement.
* You will partner with various stakeholders to fulfill strategic commitments.
* Working in co-production with colleagues, partners, service users, and carers is essential to ensure services meet desired outcomes.
* You will leverage your experience to support commissioning and partnership activities for specific groups such as carers, older adults, or individuals with learning difficulties.
* You will assist in quality assurance of commissioned services.
What we need from you
* Relevant knowledge and experience in social care or similar service commissioning and contracting, with a flexible approach across areas.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and clients.
* Proven ability to meet service standards, targets, and deadlines, with strong organizational and time management skills to handle competing demands.
* Clear, logical thinking for problem-solving and assessing challenges.
* Desirable: a degree or professional qualification in social care, health care, or business studies.
