Exciting contract opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to work in transforming traditional engines into electric powered units. The role involves removing diesel or traditional engines and replacing them with renewable energy electric transmission ones. You will be trained to the relevant standards for EV. An EV background is not needed.
A Mechanical background from HGV, or plant, agricultural vehicles is suitable.
Responsibilities
* Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance, removing and replacing engine units and components, and electrical auxiliary units and components.
* Proficient use of hand tools.
* Welding & fabrication.
Skills to Success
* Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect-free assembly of parts and components, using various hand and power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.
* Follow and work to Engineer’s instructions to install prototype, pilot, and production powertrains into machines.
* Operate a multitude of different off-highway vehicles including but not limited to, hydraulic excavators, backhoe loaders, telehandlers, and track type tractors where required.
* Instrument powertrains installations with thermocouples, pressure transducers, speed pickups, and other forms of sensors.
* Diagnose and fix a range of faults on both powertrains and machines.
* Work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic).
* Manufacture parts from drawings using in-house facilities (machining, welding, fabrication, and fully equipped electronics lab).
* Produce electrical looms to interface powertrain and machine.
