NHS Fife welcomes applicants for the post of Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly/Stroke Medicine & ScotCOM Hub Development lead. The post holder will work clinically in the Victoria Hospital providing sessions in stroke or medicine for the elderly (MoE) and in Cameron Community Hospital where an education hub is being developed. The education component of this role is to support the development of the hubs and subsequent delivery of education within the ScotCOM program. ScotCOM is a new MBChB program being developed in conjunction with the University of St Andrews. This exciting new development will deliver a 5 year MBChB focusing on community based medicine. The development of ScotCOM with the University of St Andrews, our co-terminus university, is also allowing NHS Fife to progress Teaching Health Board status. Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly OR Stroke and General Medicine NHS Fife MOE Team are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative professional to complement the current clinical team of Consultants, Specialty Doctor, GPwSI, Nurse Consultant and Clinical Specialist Nurses to help us continue to deliver high quality medicine to older people in Fife. This post will allow our department to continue to provide ongoing care in our acute and community services. We are well known for supporting and developing staff clinically. ScotCOM Hub Development Lead Development & Delivery of the ScotCOM program within NHS Fife This role will initially be to develop the community components of the ScotCOM program. Once the program commences the post holder will support delivery of the learning that compliments the delivery of placements within the hub and spoke model. There will be two community hubs in the East and West of Fife. This post will be based at Cameron Hospital in the East Hub which has been newly developed to create high standard educational facilities including clinical skills rooms, simulation house and simulation consultation room. The Hub Development Lead will oversee a team of ScotCOM clinical educators (SCEs) who will deliver a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and act as positive role models for the student cohort. The Hub Development Lead will support the development of the SCE team to develop the skills required to support student development and deliver the ScotCOM curriculum. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 4th February 2025 Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
