We are looking to recruit for a Signalling & Telecoms Technician to be based out of Stourbridge Depot.
Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) offers a dynamic and diverse role that combines both electrical and mechanical engineering skills. There is a variety in tasks, from using electronic testing equipment to measuring critical electrical parameters, to working with mechanical systems that guide trains, this ensures that no two days are the same.
You will be working on tasks such as:
· Electrical measurements: Using advanced testing equipment to check the performance of signalling systems and ensure everything is running safely.
· Mechanical work: Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical components, like the systems that control train directions, adds a hands-on, practical element to the role.
A Technician postbuilds upon the Operative position and adds more responsibility, including leadership, technical expertise, and oversight of work quality.
You will provide support to the Team Leader to organise and motivate the team so that work is undertaken safely, efficiently and to the relevant standards. Undertake inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal work as allocated and where directed, act as Team Leader.
You'll also accurately report all work completed/not completed and produce/maintain records as required and control and check the quality of work undertaken and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
Essential Criteria
·Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
·Knowledge of how to organise and control the safe and efficient delivery of work.
·Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
·Able to lead, motivate and direct a team.
·Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
·Knowledge of signalling inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
·Conversant with standards, procedures and instructions.
·Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by business need.
·Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained an appropriate level of knowledge through equivalent relevant experience
·Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.
You must live within a 60 minute commute time from the depot which is advertised.
