We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, innovative 3rd Chef to join our friendly team on the start of an exciting journey within this 500 year old "small but mighty" Oxford College. Role Description: The 3rd Chef supports the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivery high-quality meals for the College community, including students, staff, Fellows and guests. This role involves assisting with menu preparation, food production, maintaining hygiene standards and ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen. The 3rd Chef is integral to providing excellent service during formal and informal College events, such as hall dinners, banquets and private functions. Main tasks of the role: • Prepare and serve food to the standards set by the Head Chef and Sous Chef, leading the team with both are absent • Assist with the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen in producing and presenting food to a high standard for Fellows, students, staff and conference and banqueting visitors • Participate in the planning and production of menus • Ensure all goods received are properly checked and carefully stored • Share in cleaning and good housekeeping practice in the kitchen and maintain high standards of cleanliness in all areas paying due regard to all Food Hygiene legislation • Help to direct and maintain health and safety standards of the kitchen, paying due regard to the College Health & Safety Policy in all areas of responsibility • Have regard for the security of the College, reporting any suspicious activity or occurrence • Participate in the training of junior chefs • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role with the College and the overall business objectives of the organisation Remuneration and Terms: This post will be paid at £34,652.80 pa depending upon experience. The post is full time 40 hours per week on a rota basis. The working day will involve straight shifts over the week and 1 split shift on rostered weekends, regular days off will be factored in. The College offers 24 days annual leave per annum plus, in addition to Bank Holidays (those worked are compensated), 5 days compulsory leave at Christmas.
