Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Edinburgh. As part of our ongoing growth and investment, this role will play a critical part in supporting our engineering team in achieving higher standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, with City & Guilds or similar qualifications and experience in a production / processing or manufacturing facility. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in teams, and demonstrate a high level of planning and organisational ability.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment, adhering to our PPM schedule and maintaining the highest standard.
* Collaborate with the mechanical/electrical team to ensure plant availability meets operational commitments.
* Assist with machine improvement projects and contribute to the development of new skills both within and outside their core discipline.
* Monitor, fault find, maintain, and repair a wide variety of equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, and specialist treatment process machinery.
* Apply first-level maintenance activities to all onsite assets, with a focus on large plant complex repairs.
* Perform tasks requiring Breathing Apparatus and working in confined spaces, following proper training.
* Work with other disciplines in a workshop team, adhering to business and departmental rules regarding workflow and management.
* Maintain awareness of health and safety protocols and work in a manner that ensures personal safety and the safety of those around them.
* Utilize our computerised maintenance management system to organise workload and respond to work orders efficiently.
Requirements:
* City & Guilds or similar vocational qualifications and completion of an apprenticeship or recognised training in a mechanical discipline.
* Relevant experience in a production / processing or manufacturing facility is highly beneficial.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in teams and interact with colleagues and managers.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to take direction and respond accordingly.
Working Hours:
This is a Monday - Friday dayshift position, providing a stable and predictable work environment.
