Overview of role:
We’re looking for a Gas Manager to join our new Building Compliance Team to manage the day-to-day operational management of our gas team. You will lead our in-house gas team to deliver a compliant, customer-focused, and efficient gas maintenance service, including repairs, installations, and our cyclical gas servicing programme.
Our gas team already performs to a high standard, but at whg we’re always striving for excellence. You will embed continuous improvement within the team, driving performance, quality, customer service, and value for money. We expect you to utilise a variety of data to make ‘data-driven decisions’ on what action to take to drive improvements and evaluate the effects of any change.
You must be highly technically skilled in gas and also a great leader of people, able to influence, motivate, coach, and develop colleagues while challenging performance where necessary. The ability to guide people through change is also key.
You will be our subject matter expert in gas and a key player in our decarbonization programme to help us achieve our net zero target by 2050.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for the role, you must have the following technical qualifications:
1. A minimum Level 2 qualification in Gas, or Plumbing Level 3 with the Gas Element alongside an ACS accreditation to include CCN1, CEN1, CKR1, WAT1, HTR1, and CPA1.
2. A commercial gas qualification, or willingness to work towards it.
3. IOSHH – Managing Safely qualification, or willingness to work towards it.
Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary, generous annual leave allowance, a local government pensions scheme, and much more. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a social business that has a clear set of values and objectives centered on supporting people. Our inclusive culture and market-leading professional development opportunities have earned us the Sunday Times ‘Best Place to Work’ award for 2024.
Working for whg means you will receive:

2. A range of shopping and leisure discounts
3. 27 days annual leave (plus three days for Christmas shut down)
4. Access to learning and development opportunities
5. Access to the annual leave purchase scheme
6. The opportunity to work in a hybrid environment
7. Access to a choice of two great pension schemes including the Local Government Pension Scheme
8. Automatic membership of Colleague Voice
