North Lanarkshire Council are seeking to appoint a Senior Technician to lead our technician services within Taylor High School.
You will ensure the effective and safe operation of the services provided by technician staff, in the fields of science, workshop and ICT.
Your main duties will involve the administrative responsibility in accordance with council policy for technician staff in matters affecting Conditions of Service, time keeping, holidays etc. Supervision and instruction where appropriate of trainee technicians are essential as is links with the Technical Service Manager and any other agencies relating to technical support. You will carry out any other technician related duties as delegated by the Technical Service Manager.
You should have an SVQ3, HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline along with the ability to communicate with and motivate others by demonstration of team leadership qualities. You should have the ability to liaise at all levels in establishments and to work closely and responsibly with children. Extended experience of working in an educational environment is essential as is the ability to organise work of others. Ideally you will have previous supervisory experience, knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, the ability to train others and have an interest in Technology relevant to Education, including trends and curricular developments on an on-going basis.
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role .
Due to the operational staffing structure, applicants applying for a position at a school that has a less than full time equivalent in their core discipline, will be expected to operate as the senior technician of the allocated school from multiple locations, whilst providing core discipline support across multiple schools.
