Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.
Role Overview
This role is ideal for a recent science graduate who is passionate about education and interested in gaining hands-on classroom experience. It is particularly suited for those considering a career in teaching, tutoring, or educational support.
The successful candidate will work closely with science teachers and support staff to assist students across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing targeted support in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students with one-to-one and small group tuition, helping to improve their understanding of key scientific concepts.
* Assisting teachers in preparing and delivering engaging science lessons, ensuring students remain motivated and supported.
* Helping students develop their practical skills by assisting in laboratory sessions and demonstrations.
* Supporting students with exam preparation, including revision strategies and coursework guidance.
* Assisting students with special educational needs (SEN) by adapting learning materials to their individual needs.
* Encouraging a positive and engaged approach to learning by promoting curiosity and critical thinking.
* Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment.
* Preparing lesson resources, worksheets, and revision materials.
* Providing feedback to teachers regarding student progress and engagement.
Candidate Requirements:
* A degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline).
* A strong passion for science education and student development.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
* A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting students of varying abilities.
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a school setting.
* Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential.
Salary & Benefits:
* Weekly pay between £446.90 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
