Job Title: Senior Town Planner / Principal Town Planner
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: Up to 50,000 DOE
Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Town Planner or Principal Town Planner to join a well-established planning consultancy based in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of planning projects, offering expert advice and delivering high-quality planning solutions to a range of clients. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead planning applications and development proposals from initial conception through to approval.
2. Provide expert planning advice on a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
3. Prepare and manage planning submissions, including applications, appeals, and representations.
4. Coordinate and liaise with clients, local authorities, statutory consultees, and other key stakeholders.
5. Prepare detailed planning reports and supporting documentation for planning applications and appeals.
6. Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies to identify planning risks and opportunities.
7. Mentor and support junior planners, helping with their professional development.
8. Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation, policy, and best practices.
9. Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high standards of service.
10. Attend meetings with clients and local authorities to represent planning interests.
Skills & Experience:
1. RTPI membership (or working towards) is essential.
2. Proven experience in town planning, with a strong understanding of the UK planning system.
3. Demonstrated experience managing planning applications and leading projects across various sectors.
4. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Experience with development management and strategic planning is highly desirable.
7. Comprehensive knowledge of local planning policy and legislation.
8. Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
