Job Accountabilities
* Responsible for carrying out inspections and maintenance on equipment in hazardous areas to BS EN 60079-14/17, taking ownership of defects through to resolution.
* Ensuring the repair, overhaul and reclamation of equipment in hazardous areas is completed in accordance with BS EN 60079-19.
* To communicate risks, issues and non-compliance regarding DSEAR and associated process safety equipment, to all stakeholders informing them of risk. Where necessary escalate issues and seek resolution.
* Responsible for establishing and maintaining an accurate EX asset inspection and maintenance register that ensures compliance with DSEAR regulations across the company.
* Carry out technical assurance and document management of the Explosion Protection Documents (EPD) including EX Asset Certification, and I.S circuit loop drawings and Descriptive System Documents (DSD’s).
* Coordinate production of Intrinsically Safe Loop Drawings and Descriptive System Documents.
* Acting as PCW where required to assist the hazardous area equipment inspection programme being carried out by inspection framework suppliers ensuring that statutory inspection requirements are adhered to.
* To work closely with the DSEAR team and wider business to ensure that the company is compliant with its statutory obligations with respect to the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (2002).
* Working with the DSEAR Compliance Coordinator to ensure dependencies are understood and can be executed thereby facilitating the required statutory inspections.
* Responsible for building strong working relationships with work planning, field teams and stakeholders across the company to drive collaborative working.
* Provide input to help guide inspection frequency updates to reflect inspections outcomes, thereby helping to drive continuous improvement and compliance.
* To promote health, safety and wellbeing.
Knowledge and Skills
* Qualified to a minimum of either; City and Guilds, ONC or Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering with hands on engineering experience gained in an operational environment. Experience working with Instrumentation an advantage.
* Inspection & Testing.
* Hold CompEx 01-04 certification (and ideally CompEx 05-06- this will need to be held in the role).
* Strong engineering competence (relating to water industry assets would be advantageous) and excellent knowledge of the electrical equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
* Proven experience of carrying out inspections and maintenance on EX equipment in hazardous areas.
* Ability to understand, utilize and discuss relevant technical and process safety documentation such as Electrical and Instrumentation drawings, Descriptive System Documents, Functional Design Specifications and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s).
* A clear understanding of the DSEAR regulations and the associated Engineering Standards and Codes of Practice.
* Good communication and stakeholder management skills (verbal and written) to ensure highly technical information can be clearly communicated to all levels within the company.
* Ability to be resilient and tenacious. Be personally driven to overcome operational obstacles.
* Ability to build collaborative relations with operational staff, other departments and key stakeholders such as framework contractors.

A full driving license is required as the role will be field based.
