An organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Operations with FMCG food manufacturing experience who is a strong and authentic leader. You will be adept at developing, supporting, and mentoring a team, creating strategies to drive operational efficiency and comfortable reporting at board-level. This is a brand-new role, which you can really make your own. The successful candidate will lead a team of production, distribution and quality assurance managers ensuring that they are being managed efficiently, and operating to high quality and operating standards. This is an integral role to the leadership and strategic direction of the business; reporting to the directors, you will be the driving force behind continuous improvement initiatives, performance optimisation, and developing a culture of excellence. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all production, distribution and quality assurance activities to ensure efficient and timely output. Ensure optimal utilisation of equipment and resources to maximise productivity. Delivery of SQCDME KPIs and upholding EHS & Quality standards. Oversee rigorous quality control procedures to ensure all products meet the company’s high standards and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Oversee a reliable and cost-effective supply chain. Develop and lead a high-performing team to ensure the highest standards are delivered and provide guidance and coaching for those responsible for the day-to-day production operations. Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring all activities are carried out within financial constraints. Identify and implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies without compromising on quality or efficiency. Engaging in regular reporting of data and information to senior management. Collaborates with senior management to develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives aligned with the business goals and objectives. Introduce KPI’s to drive performance. Support company values to ensure a positive culture that fosters good employee relationships. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations management role, within the food manufacturing industry. Proven track record of managing production processes and teams in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of manufacturing best practices, quality control standards, regulatory requirements and continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in using ERP systems and other operational management software. Data analysis, budget development, and resource planning. Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies. Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement aligned with strategic targets. Appetite for playing a key part in a rapidly growing business as we take it to the next level. Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GMP) is highly desirable.
