We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Teacher of English to join a reputable special needs school. This school caters to students aged 3-19 with a diverse range of special educational needs. The English role will be primarily based in the secondary department, working with students at a very basic level, with some students working towards basic GCSEs. Responsibilities: • Plan, deliver, and assess English lessons at an appropriate level for students with special educational needs in the secondary department. • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students. • Support students in developing their literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and engaged. • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and therapists to implement a holistic approach to student development. • Monitor and track student progress, and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and the school leadership team. Qualifications and Experience: • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with relevant experience in teaching English. • Experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a special needs school or similar setting. • Knowledge of different strategies and approaches for teaching English to students with diverse needs and abilities. • Ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate a wide range of learning abilities, including those with limited literacy skills. • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for English at a basic level and GCSEs. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the overall school ethos.
