Be the gatekeeper of our information. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Freedom of Information Officer to join Information Management at Leicestershire Police on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will be the designated person of contact for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, making sure that information that’s of public interest is readily available or withheld where exemptions from disclosure are properly engaged. You’ll also manage the reputational risk that is linked to relevant disclosures and ensuring that relevant stakeholders and corporate communications are informed. Key Responsibilities You will be responding to complex requests for Information, including Freedom of Information and Data Protection Requests. You will provide advice and guidance to the public, external organisations and organisational staff as required. You will guard against any disclosures being made which would jeopardise ongoing investigations or court proceedings. The must haves Hold a BCS Freedom of Information Certificate OR equivalent or be able to achieve this qualification within the first 12 months of undertaking the role. Experience of decision-making and responding to requests for information under the Data Protection Act or Freedom of Information Act legislation. Be educated to ECDL Basic Level OR to be able to demonstrate ability to the above level by work experience. What’s in it for you? Salary: £30,468 - £34,329 For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
