At Birmingham Hospice, our teams are committed to improving the quality of life for people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families and loved ones during one of the most challenging periods they will ever face.
We have an exciting opportunity for a caring, compassionate, and committed professional to join our Therapies Team as a Therapy Support Worker.
As a Therapy Support Worker, you will support the physiotherapy and occupational therapy team in the planning and delivery of a range of programmes which support palliative care patients. You will assist with evaluating progress against set outcome measures and patient goals, and communicate to therapists if there are any changes observed or concerns regarding safety and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will receive day-to-day managerial and professional support from a team of experienced Palliative Care Therapists.
The role is based at Erdington; however, there is an expectation to work from Selly Park on occasion. In addition, as we provide services within the Birmingham and Sandwell communities, you would be expected to travel across the community on a regular basis.
* You will have a competency in English and Maths (up to GCSE level or equivalent) and will hold a Care Certificate/NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
* Ideally, you will have gained experience working in a relevant healthcare setting and have a general understanding of the roles of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing Services.
* You will be well organised, have excellent interpersonal skills, be an effective communicator, and be able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day.
* You must be able to travel across Birmingham, sometimes at short notice, and therefore you will need to be a car owner/driver with access to your own vehicle and hold a current full UK driving licence or have access to a driver.
Previous applicants need not reapply.
