Job Title: E&I Superintendent
Location: Thurrock, Essex
Overview:
Mane Contract Services is seeking a skilled and experienced E&I Superintendent to oversee and manage Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) works on a high-profile industrial project. This role involves ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining compliance with project specifications and schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a strong E&I trade background, significant experience in the petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial industries, and a proven ability to lead teams on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Construction Manager in executing and monitoring all E&I works.
* Ensure all works are performed in the safest manner at all times.
* Manage the installation and testing of Electrical, Instrumentation, Communications, Telecoms, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
* Supervise HT/LT/MV/LV electrical installations and instrumentation certifications.
* Troubleshoot E&I systems and programs.
* Ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and manage document compilation.
* Coordinate with other building services and project teams to ensure smooth execution.
* Monitor the productivity of the workforce against budgeted man-hours.
* Perform field inspections to ensure the delivery of quality work.
* Review and interpret construction/shop drawings and prepare FLRA’s (Field Level Risk Assessments) with crews.
* Conduct FAT and SAT inspections, system line checks, and field instrument certifications.
* Perform calibration, functional checks, loop checks, and respective testing.
* Manage system walk-downs, punch-listing, troubleshooting, and closure.
* Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning as well as system validation.
* Supervise foremen, chargehands, and crews to meet project deadlines.
* Manage subcontractors, monitor progress, and report project updates.
* Coordinate with client representatives and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Strong E&I trade background with 5–10 years’ post-qualification experience.
* Proven expertise in petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or heavy industrial industries.
* Familiarity with permit-to-work environments and fast-track projects.
* Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and reviewing/commenting on designs.
* Independent, proactive, and ready for full-time field supervision in a construction environment.
* Comfortable with extended hours to meet project requirements.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a track record of successfully managing site teams.
