Greenergy is the UK’s leading supplier of road fuel and growing rapidly in the UK, and internationally. We operate globally with offices in Canada, the USA, Brazil and Dubai and source fuels from around the world, receiving over 700 shipments annually. To deliver fuel to our customers, we also have an in-house haulage operation employing over 650 drivers. Greenergy is a major investor in the UK’s fuel infrastructure, regenerating import terminals that are essential to the country’s ongoing supply security. Greenergy Fuels is the largest trading entity of the group, supplying 15 billion litres of fuel to its customers each year.
We are seeking an experienced Driver Manager to join our team in Grays, Essex.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will work a permanent night shift, following a 4 on, 4 off schedule. Working hours are from 18:00 to 06:00.
The primary purpose of the role is the management of resource including drivers and vehicles to ensure service is delivered in line with customer requirements and contractual obligations. To ensure that the regional operations are managed in line with appropriate and required legislation or Greenergy standards and KPI’s.
You will collaborate with the Transport Managers to ensure the region meets its objectives and KPIs related to O License Undertakings, operational compliance, SHEQ, financial performance, customer service, and HR tasks.
In this role, you will manage a team of drivers, focusing on delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring safe deliveries to our customers. You will promote a positive work environment that reflects Greenergy’s core values of Respect, Ownership, Care, and Integrity. Additionally, you will work closely with the central planning and scheduling team in Tamworth, taking a proactive approach to addressing local challenges to support business operations, enhance customer service, and maintain safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate the Company values, leading with a positive ‘results focused attitude’ with the ability to inspire excellence in others.

* Assist the resource department where required, to ensure all shifts are maximised in line with volumes and stocks.
* The management of any driver attendance or performance issues within company guidelines and procedures to ensure that there is good utilization of resource levels and availability, leading to good cost control of overtime and agency usage.
* Assisting Operations team in Tamworth with shift execution and being the point of escalation for on shift driver issues.
* To monitor and manage all tachograph infringements in line with company procedures, ensuring that tacho information is downloaded and available for analysis in line with required timescales.
* Manage the Tachograph Improvement Scheme to ensure drivers have received the required level of training.
* Monitor, report and improve where possible, MPG per vehicle ensuring they are within agreed levels.
* Monitor and actively manage driver hours and the utilization of hours with the agreed reference period and in line with WTD, and RTR.To ensure the best use of resources v’s time and cost.
* Monitor over speed reports and deal accordingly.
* Investigate and report 100% of accident and incidents in line with company procedures ensuring retraining where appropriate and reducing future risk/exposure where possible.
* Ensure effective communication to the drivers of information through Toolbox Talks including such areas as health and safety, future events and issues etc., ensuring 90% attendance of drivers.
* Identification of areas for development and potential cost savings each year.
* Develop effective internal and external relationships to ensure that there is consistency of approach across regions and support to other functions is shared/given through such methods as managers conference calls, daily contact with schedulers, and terminal health and safety issues are understood and dealt with.
* Review and sign off all driver timesheets to ensure that payroll information is correct, dealing with and resolving queries prior to sign off.
* Monitor, investigate and report on all dropped loads and propose appropriate changes where required to eliminate future occurrences.
* Undertake disciplinary, grievance, and absence management meetings as required to ensure the effective management of the drivers to aid the delivery of service.
* Provide appropriate cover for other Driver Managers during their absence – some flexibility will be required.
* Undertake health and safety risk assessments as necessary ensuring they are updated as a when required by company procedure or when new business is acquired.
* Investigate and report on all PCNs and NOIPs, and if possible, instigate appeal proceedings.
* Provide detailed end of shift handover for the oncoming Driver Manager.
Qualifications Knowledge & Expertise
* Previous background working in the transport industry experience specifically with LGV’s would be desirable.
* Knowledge and understanding of fuels sector and the accompanying regulatory framework and standards associated with driver vehicle operations.
* IT literate with good report writing skills (e.g. producing an investigation report).
* Able to demonstrate successful management of drivers in a unionised environment along with the ability to lead, coach and motivate teams.
* Experience in dealing with performance issues.
* International CPC Road Haulage
* Experience / evidence of strong cost control capability.
