Job Title: Director of Commercial Insurance Broking

Job Overview:
The Director of Commercial is responsible for leading the commercial broking division in Retford, overseeing client acquisition and retention strategies, and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, insurers, and regulatory bodies. The role requires strong leadership to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and profitability within the commercial broking sector. This position demands a deep understanding of insurance markets, risk management, and the ability to provide strategic direction to the broking team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Strategy:
o Develop and implement strategic business plans to drive growth, profitability, and market share in commercial insurance.
o Lead, mentor, and manage the commercial broking team, ensuring high performance and alignment with company goals.
o Foster a culture of excellence in customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the broking team.
* Business Development & Client Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, insurers, and industry partners.
o Oversee the development and execution of client acquisition strategies, focusing on mid-to-large businesses across various industries.
o Ensure client retention through effective service delivery, renewal strategies, and risk management solutions.
* Risk Management & Advisory:
o Provide expert advice to clients on complex insurance needs, risk management strategies, and tailored coverage solutions.
o Oversee the broking of complex commercial insurance policies, including property, liability, casualty, and specialty lines.
o Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company stays compliant and competitive.
* Financial Management:
o Manage the commercial insurance division's revenue budget.
o Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure financial targets are met and sustained.
* Compliance & Governance:
o Ensure that all commercial insurance operations comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
o Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurance markets, and internal compliance teams to maintain robust governance frameworks.
* Market & Product Innovation:
o Identify and respond to new market opportunities by introducing innovative insurance products and services.
o Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activities, and client needs to adapt the company’s product portfolio effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial insurance broking, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
* Extensive knowledge of commercial insurance markets, underwriting processes, and risk management practices.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and client relationship management skills.
* Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive business development initiatives.
* Demonstrated financial acumen, with experience in budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
* Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
