We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist with proven clinical skills to join our team on a 12-month secondment. The post is based at Neurological Outpatients in the Specialist Rehabilitation department of Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. You will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists/Speech and Language Therapists and Psychologists.
The role will involve the following:
1. Using specialised skills to complete assessment and treatment of patients with complex neurological presentations including spasticity management, seating, providing education of postural and movement management to patients living in the community, on an Outpatient basis.
2. Develop and deliver a comprehensive training programme and service development with all members of the MDT.
3. Training and development of more junior staff including qualified physiotherapists and therapy assistants and will include completing annual appraisals, as appropriate.
4. Deputising for Band 7 Physiotherapist in the day-to-day management of the physiotherapy team including attending meetings.
5. You will be expected to take part in the In-Service Training programme for other Neurological Band 6 staff to help you progress your skills.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide assessment and treatment to patients with complex neurological presentations, within the department of Neurological Outpatients Therapy Service in the Specialist Rehabilitation department of Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
2. To provide support, guidance, training and evaluation of qualified and unqualified staff. This would include working with the support team/family in the patients community, and other members of the MDT to deliver a comprehensive training programme.
3. To ensure professionalism and excellent communication with staff, patients and relatives in routine and complex circumstances, including holding difficult conversations.
4. To deputise for the Band 7 in the day-to-day management of the unit including attending relevant meetings.
5. To develop and deliver a comprehensive training programme for the MDT.
6. You will be expected to perform occasional home visits with other team members to educate both patients and their family and the community team.

Person Specification
Education and Training
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Completed at least one weekend of the Introduction to Bobath Course.
* Completion of 3 week Basic Bobath Course.
Experience and Knowledge
* Post graduate experience in a range of areas at Band 6 level specialising in neurology, including in patients.
* Experience in teaching, including the wider MDT.
* Experience with supervising staff including completing appraisals.
* Experience of complex discharge planning.
* Experience of deputising for Band 7.
Communication and MDT working
* Experience in communicating highly complex and sensitive information and supporting others to do so.
* Experience of giving constructive feedback to other staff and students.
* Experience of overcoming communication barriers and acceptance.
* Experience of working as part of an MDT and supporting others to do so.
* Experience of dealing with complaints and concerns.
Clinical skills
* Demonstrated high level of assessment skills.
* Demonstrates ability to formulate treatment plans.
