Overview
Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking a Communications Engineer to work at our client site in Bristol or Harrogate for their Mission Systems function.
We are looking for an energetic and driven Communications Engineer to support development of specific communications sub systems for major programmes. This role represents a great opportunity to work within a multi-discipline design team, working on new and exciting international projects. There are several roles available, some with the opportunity for UK & international travel.
You would contribute to the development of next generation Radio Frequency (RF) Solutions, supporting command & control systems for a variety of national and international customers. We need a team player who can use their initiative and has a real passion for engineering with an attention to detail, combined with a thorough, methodical approach to Systems Engineering.
Responsibilities
Support the engineering of communication systems and/or associated supporting sub-systems to achieve overall mission system intent. This will be achieved under the direction of Communication Engineering Leads and guidance of the Engineering Programme Manager.
1. Support together with engineering and system design delivery, collaborating with other SMEs. Contribute to technical interactions with the end customer.
2. Generation of detailed specifications, high-quality design documentation and other technical deliverables. Through working closely with peers to aid engineering change to systems applying control via adherence to processes.
3. Participate in requirements management, justification, and decomposition. Including the decomposition of interfaces and studies between systems, sub systems and functions.
4. Support development, building, test and trialling of solutions and participating in Validation, Verification, Test and Acceptance activities.
5. Supporting Operational Engineering teams with in-service systems, troubleshoot technical faults and problem management.
Qualifications
1. Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering.
2. A lower-level qualification may be acceptable with significant demonstrable relevant experience performing the same/similar work.

Desired skills
1. Voice and data comms technologies and protocols such as SIP/RTP, ED-137, serial, IP, TDM.
2. Military communications systems experience.
3. RF transmission & reception systems.
4. Knowledge of UK MoD security (JSP 604), practices and ways of working.
5. Software & Hardware integration experience.
6. Lifecycle engineering experience including System of System.
Experience
Must have:
1. Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) demonstrable relevant experience.
2. Experience or transferable knowledge from similar systems (any of below):
* Voice and data traffic handling.
* Network switching systems.
* VCCS (Voice Communications Control System).
* ICCS (Integrated Communications Control System).
1. System development and/or application of engineering change experience.
2. Awareness in application of Baseband technologies.
What do I need before I apply
1. Candidate should be able/prepared to work at our client's site in Bristol or Harrogate Hybrid (75% site attendance).
2. Must hold or be able to obtain SC clearance with the willingness/ability to gain DV clearance.
3. Due to security restrictions candidates must be UK National.
4. Willingness for occasional travel to other sites.
