About the Role:
We are looking for a Hardware Test Engineer to join the Hardware team within the Innovations group at Vision RT. Working within the hardware team as part of research and development, the primary role will be to build and test hardware components and systems, including test planning, test case generation, and results documentation. The role will also include liaison with external test houses for third-party testing to medical standards such as ISO 60601 and supporting these external testing activities. The work also includes building and upgrading PC hardware, developing prototypes demonstrating the feasibility and potential of our innovative ideas and concepts, and seeing these through product realization. You will collaborate closely with other team members and product owners to translate conceptual designs into functional and interactive prototypes and work on product hardware components within the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Build and test of hardware components and systems.
* Develop and execute hardware test plans and test cases.
* Conduct functional, performance, and reliability tests on hardware components.
* Analyse test results to identify defects and areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with design and production teams to address hardware defects.
* Create detailed test reports and documentation.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Perform root cause analysis on test failures.
* Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on hardware designs.
* Continuously improve test processes and methodologies.
* Support third-party testing including collating and testing product systems prior to external testing, liaising with and visiting test houses (some overnight stays involved), and managing required documentation and paperwork.
Essential Skills & Experience
* 2-3 years experience in hardware/electronics testing and troubleshooting/system engineering testing and troubleshooting or related testing experience.
* PCB diagnostics & fault finding.
* Knowledge of DVM and Oscilloscopes.
* Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of testing to ISO standards such as ISO 60601, or similar.
* Experience of working within a development process, particularly in a regulated industry.
* Knowledge of the radiotherapy discipline and keenness to gain more understanding.
* Building workstations from scratch, either for work or home. This includes; installing Windows, upgrading hardware i.e. RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.
