Join us in making a difference in aviation’s future! You’ll help us deliver operational excellence across our Civil, Defence, and Engines divisions at our East Cowes manufacturing plants. Established in 1901, our site employs around 800 staff, designing, manufacturing, testing, and repairing high-performance aerospace structures and systems. Our customer base includes Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, and others.
Due to growth, we seek experienced Manufacturing Engineers specializing in Product and Planning to join our team on the Isle of Wight. Based at East Cowes and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will support both Civil and Defence projects, providing engineering expertise to enable zero defect projects, focusing on manufacturing process technology related to materials, tooling, and assembly.
Flexibility for limited travel, both nationally and internationally, is required. We offer relocation support within the UK to the Isle of Wight for successful candidates.
Job Responsibilities
1. Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace HSE policies.
2. Develop manufacturing process solutions for complex problems.
3. Implement production planning from concept through to production, using the Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
4. Manage product development, first article approval, configuration changes, and process definition.
5. Develop technical solutions collaboratively with customers and suppliers.
6. Provide technical support for manufacturing process development and integration.
7. Use root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
8. Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Drive continuous improvement through Lean initiatives.
10. Apply APQP tools for problem solving.
Qualifications and Experience
* HNC or higher in Engineering or related field.
* Experience in Manufacturing Engineering within a composites environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of quality systems like ISO9000, AS9100.
* Experience in Aerospace industry.
* Project/Program Management experience.
* Familiarity with APQP processes.
* Understanding of ERP systems.
* Green Belt certification.
This role requires UK National Security Vetting (SC clearance). Applicants must typically have resided in the UK for at least 5 years.
