Working at Forestry and Land Scotland is all about ‘People, Pride and Purpose.’ Join us and take pride in supporting the economy, protecting and enhancing the environment by managing Scotland’s National forests and land.
We are recruiting a Civil Engineer to join our team based in the Central region of Scotland, covering the Lowlands area. This is a permanent, full time role based from West Calder.
The Civil Engineering team plans, designs and manages a network of forest roads and associated infrastructure, including bridges and extractive sites (Quarries). We manage a forest road network of nearly 10,000 km nationally, supporting land management activities and in particular the harvesting and marketing of timber from Scotland’s national forests and land.
Our Civil Engineers work across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver various projects across our land and forests, including the construction and maintenance of new and existing roads and bridges. This role carries significant autonomy and responsibility, taking projects from the planning and design stage through to completion. Our Civil Engineers play a key role in the commercial management of works and ensuring health and safety on sites across their region. The role will require travel to other offices and regions including occasional overnight stays.
To be successful in this role you will have experience within a project management environment and be a natural problem solver. Additionally, you will have experience or knowledge of supervising works in a construction or forest environment.
We offer flexible working hours and competitive salary alongside several other employee benefits, including a 28.97% employer's pension contribution, cycle to work scheme, and employee shopping discounts.
If this sounds like a role you’re interested in, we’d encourage you to apply with your CV and covering letter detailing evidence of the essential and desirable criteria detailed on the attached job description and success profile document.
