The purpose of the Senior Childcare Practitioner is to provide support to the nursery manager in the day-to-day running of the outdoor nursery. The candidate must be qualified to a minimum level of an SVQ Level 3 and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council, with the opportunity to work toward SVQ 4 or BA Childhood Practice. Working hours are Monday to Thursday shift pattern Rota, plus public holidays.
Responsibilities:
* Work under the direction of the nursery manager to support and supervise staff, ensuring they work in line with policy and procedures. Take on a leading role in the absence of the nursery manager.
* Implement curriculum planning, supporting staff in their observations and recordings of children's learning, ensuring they complete all relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
* Be vigilant in child protection and safeguarding.
* Meet and welcome parents/carers and children, ensuring each child has completed the induction process.
* Plan and provide a choice of activities in line with Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition, and My World Outdoors to create learning opportunities for the children in the outdoor nursery.
* Plan and provide refreshments for the children while being aware of any special dietary requirements.
* Provide a safe, stimulating, and happy environment for the children.
* Supervise and support children who attend the outdoor nursery, completing online learning journals to track children's progress and plan next steps.
* Ensure that at the end of each session, all equipment and materials are cleared away and put back in the right place.
* Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times.
* Be competent in IT.
* Provide support to the Managers and Senior Childcare Practitioners in the day-to-day running of the organization.
* Work to all the relevant legislative requirements, policies, and procedures within the organization.
* Participate in training, team meetings, and keep paperwork up to date (e.g., online learning journals, children’s files, work plans, CPD, etc.).
* Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the post and in line with the needs of Maryhill Mobile Children’s Services.
